Liz Carson Keith is a retired English teacher and journalist. Her historic fiction book, "The Virginia Governess," is a sweeping saga of Keith's great-grandparents as they negotiated the last year of the American Civil War. Keith has lived a full-throated life as a prize-winning writer of newspaper articles and short stories; as a former board of education member; a passionate promoter of literacy, specifically adult education; and breeder of championship pug dogs. She is the widow of Jack Keith and has two living children, Mikell Reed and Lisha Keith Mendez, and one granddaughter, who excels in mathematics. An earlier book, "From Scones to Corn Pones: How a Gathering of Scottish Clans ( and Others) Became Wiregrass Pioneers" is a non-fiction account of Keith's family that traces its journey from Scotland to South Georgia.
