I write about youth who have mountains of difficulties to overcome in life and the Sherpas who help them along the way. Sometimes my characters reach the pinnacle. Sometimes, they fall into the abyss despite the best efforts to help them avoid catastrophe. After twenty-seven years in the teaching profession, the last half of which was spent as a Special Education Specialist, I gained a unique perspective on human failings and human nature. In the Special Education setting, I had the opportunity to observe, interact, and engage with students whose behavioral, psychological, emotional, and, or social deficits impaired their progress, limiting their potential. At the age of sixty-five, I decided to climb the mountain of disability that kept me from being all I could have been academically and become a writer and author. As a mild to moderate dyslexic that was difficult, but with the support of computer technology, dogged determination, and good editors, I self-published two books thus far, "Through a Lens of Emptiness", a work of non-fiction, and my first novel, "Girl with the Rose Tattoo," the first in a series of psychological thrillers which delve into the complexity young adulthood.
