Kay was born and brought up in Scotland and divided her time between London and the West of Scotland for many years. She moved to Kent to write but can't seem to keep away from the beautiful places and people of Scotland. Her career was spent mostly in Radio and TV where she worked for broadcasters Channel 4, Channel 5, Disney and the BBC. She started up her own company in 2009, working on the London 2012 Olympic Legacy. In 2013 she published the memoirs of West of Scotland legend Capt R L Hutchison (her father) and in 2015 launched Belle Kids to publish children's books including the magical wildlife conservation series Tigeropolis. Wildlife conservation holidays and adventures were an important part of Kay's life for decades, so she was keen to publish this important, but fun series for children. Somehow she persuaded Richard E Grant to narrate the audiobook and she has also produced a video game app of the series too. She went on to co-author the sweet and gentle Adventures of Captain Bobo picture books, (based on her father's comic tales of life on the 'high seas' of the West of Scotland) and finally, after a long and tortuous mid-life crisis plus several years of writing, researching and planning (some of it at the magnificent Moniack Mhor Writing Retreat near Loch Ness - see video), she published her own memoir/self-help book My Life in 37 Therapies. It's a funny, honest and personal antidote to the Eat, Pray Love ideal - and an unusually candid exploration of the challenges and opportunities of being a middle-aged woman. It has relevance for women of all ages.
