Karina Vunnam's relationship with books began after her adoption at age seven, when she learned to read for the first time. What started as simple letter recognition became a lifelong obsession with understanding systems: how stories work, how economies function, and how individual choices aggregate into collective outcomes. From the streets of Mumbai to Singapore to the United States, that curiosity shaped her path from community college to Stanford University, where she studied Economics. Today, Karina writes across genres, united by a single question: how do rational individuals create collective dysfunction? Her nonfiction examines the systems we live inside but rarely see clearly. Karina describes herself as a "systems translator for the rationally overwhelmed." She writes to help readers see patterns, not to tell them what to think.
