John Judge is president and chief executive officer of the Appalachian Mountain Club, America’s oldest conservation and outdoor recreation organization. John is the leader of a non-profit organization with a $35,000,000 annual budget, 12 Chapters, 16,000 volunteers and some 600 full, part-time and seasonal employees. AMC leadership includes: national conservation policy and advocacy; a robust eco-lodging and hospitality division hosting some 180,000 overnight guests; and through the delivery of some 8,000 annual outdoor experiences and learning and training programs. John’s is a former chief city planning officer and director of economic development and has previously served in a wide range of non-profit leadership roles, including at Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill Industries. He is the author of the new book, The Outdoor Citizen, a call for a global engagement in the outdoors and conservation stewardship. John is a graduate of Harvard Kennedy School and Stonehill College. He lives with his family in Boston.
