John Freeman is a San Diego-based author, editor and communicator.

Since 2019, he has written 16 as-told-to books with notable San Diegans, told in a first-person narrative format, most recently "The McGrory Story" with prominent San Diego civic leader Jack McGrory.

A graduate of the University of Arizona, John also spent five years in New York City as staff editor/writer with the Yankees and publications editor at the National Basketball Association.

He returned to San Diego to spend 15 years as a media columnist and sportswriter with the Union-Tribune.

His professional background also includes marketing/communications roles with national firms in wind energy and luxury yachting, as well as with UC San Diego Extension.
