Jasper Fielding writes twisty alternate-history thrillers, conspiracies with a sense of humour, and the occasional story where animals misbehave politically. His debut novel, Commonwealth of Shadows, asks what might have happened if Harold Godwinson survived 1066—and what freedom would look like in a very different Britain. Jasper lives in the UK and has spent years working in professional kitchens, which may be why his stories are full of heat, sharp edges, and bad decisions made under pressure. He’s a lifelong history nerd, board-game strategist, and lover of big “what if?” questions about the world and faith. For him, writing is part refuge, part mischief: a way to laugh in the dark and see who out there wants “just one more chapter” when they really should be asleep.
