Jacob Anderson-Minshall grew up on the banks of Idaho’s Portnuef River in the ancestral land of the Shoshoni Indians, where much of his new novel, Swimming Upstream is set. The one-time tomboy has been many things since his youth—including a lesbian-feminist, a carny, a Peace Studies major, a park ranger, and cofounder of a lesbian magazine. Jacob is also the coauthor of the award-winning memoir, Queerly Beloved: A Love Story Across Genders, which chronicles how he and his co-conspirator Diane survived their transition from lesbian couple to man and wife. The duo also coauthored the Blind Eye Detective Agency mystery novels (Blind Curves, Blind Leap, Blind Faith). Jacob's work is included in anthologies Men Speak Out: Views on Gender, Sex, and Power and the award-winning Portland Queer. Jacob is also a journalist, deputy editor of both The Advocate (the longest running LGBT news magazine in U.S.) and Plus (the largest publication for those affected by HIV) magazines.
