I loved their relationship as it was heartwarming and real. Chloe was manipulative and Gary was even worse. I feared for Alex and Nina because of him. I liked the contrast between Alex and Nina getting along and Gary and Chloe being more conflictive. The writing style is very skilful and atmospheric. Ipswich and East Anglia aren’t places I am familiar with, yet they are well shown in the book. The New Son is an emotional rollercoaster I won’t forget anytime soon.
