As a teenager stacking shelves at Marks & Spencer, Harvey Lee was caught in the storeroom belting out AC/DC's "Back in Black" into a broomstick. It was the first time anyone at work had bothered to learn his name. Years later, he helped AC/DC in their hour of need. Nobody in the grocery aisle saw that coming.

Harvey left school at fifteen with exam results that looked like alphabet soup thrown at a wall. His early CV read like evidence for the prosecution: fired from a menswear shop, taken off deliveries after crashing the company Yugo twice in one week, and very nearly trampled on turkey duty in the Christmas rush.

What followed was a 40-year career nobody would have bet on, least of all Harvey. From roadie and rock merch seller to launching the original Xbox across Europe, with Virgin, Kaspersky Lab, Seiko Epson and Avast along the way to VP level.

His first book, Backstage Pass, went to number one on Amazon and won 10 awards. He is the #1 product marketing creator on LinkedIn worldwide, where his career advice was seen more than 50 million times in 2025. He writes a career newsletter for more than 40,000 subscribers, founded the Product Marketing Career Accelerator, and has spoken at institutions including the Kellogg School of Management and London Business School.

His new book, The Anti-Resume, is built on a lesson he learnt at seventeen, walking out of a Manchester tyre warehouse with no plan: "not this" is sometimes all the clarity you need to take the next step. Your messy past isn't the problem. It's the point.

Forty years on, his family still aren't entirely convinced he has a proper job.
