Glen Nesbitt is a middle school teacher. Naturally, he's written 6, 7 books. Presently based in San Jose, he found inspiration for his first young adult novel, "Break Out of Heaven," while teaching literary craft. A memorable line secured its place in books and collections of Halloween quotations: "My costume was so bad that people opened their doors and took candy from me." For the kids, he wrote "An Animal You Are," with humor that would make any dad roll his eyes, and "Breadtime Story" about Ginger Bread's rye school reunion. "SUS" features three Short Unpredictable Stories. "The Gwen Stefani 4" explores social-emotional learning for middle schoolers. Incidentally, she graduated Cypress College the same year as he. Was she oblivious to his presence? No doubt. The book also contains "Templeton" (the rat's point of view of Charlotte's web) and "Joe the Alien", who, according to his theme song, "smells with his thumb and eats with his rear, you wouldn't want to know what he does with his ear." "We're Off!" is a reinterpretation he first produced in 2008 as a day care theater director, in which a hard-of-hearing flying monkey puts poopies on their path instead of poppies. It comes as a novel and play in one book. "Ruin a Band with One Letter" is a picture book that features Dave Grohl of the "FooD Fighters" singing, "There goes my Hero" as a submarine sandwich soars above his head in a colossal food fight. The fantasy-comedy "Betwixt Forest & Fell", available in both novel and screenplay form, is his latest work. His English Language Arts students found it hard to put down, though that could be from all the glue and sticky vape residue on their hands.
