Gemma Lienas (Barcelona, 1951) is a writer and an Op-Ed in El País newspaper. Moreover she received the first prize on “Participando creamos espacios de Igualdad” (participating we create space for equality) in the category Art and Culture 2008, awarded by the Council of Women of the city of Madrid for her whole work. Her work has been translated to German, Brazilian, Slovakian, French, Galician, Italian, Portuguese, Serbo-Croatian and Basque. She also gives lectures on women-related subjects, education and literature, collaborating as a columnist for a Catalan newspaper, and also in the radio program “Els Matins de Catalunya Ràdio” and the TV program “8 al dia”. For the last 10 years she has worked with several media, press and radio. For about 15 years, she has been head of the publishers department in several publishing companies, and before that, for 12 years, she’s been also a language and literature professor and has taught in postgraduate courses on publishing techniques and narrative structures at the University of Barcelona.
