Dr. Damon Friedman received his commission in 2000 as a United States Marine Corps officer and later transferred to the Air Force as a Special Warfare Officer. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of service, including four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and is a 100% service-connected disabled veteran. His military decorations include three Bronze Stars (one with Valor) and the Air Force Combat Action Medal. During his career, he served as a Squadron Commander in Air Force Special Operations Command and as Director of Future Operations at Special Operations Command Central. In 2011, Dr. Friedman established SOF Missions with a focus on “empowering warriors to find purpose and be resilient.” This national non-profit offers a unique approach to veteran care through a whole health, interdisciplinary model that integrates restorative programming addressing psychological, physical, spiritual, and social wellness. In recognition of his national efforts to support the veteran community, Dr. Friedman received the prestigious Spirit of Hope Award from the Secretary of Defense. Dr. Friedman is the Executive Producer of Surrender Only to ONE, a multi-award-winning film that explores the realities of combat and the lasting effects many veterans face. In addition to his work in film, he is the author of Igniting Movements, which provides a model for building effective movements and inspiring people to unite under a shared vision to make the world a better place. He later expanded on his leadership philosophy in his newest book, Special Warfare CEO, which blends elite military wisdom with practical real-world leadership insights. Dr. Friedman serves as Chairman of the Veteran Service Alliance (VSA), a non-profit that advocates on behalf of the nation’s 20 million veterans to the White House, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. In addition, he serves on the board of the Florida Veterans Foundation as the District 4 representative. Beyond his policy and advocacy work, he is also the host of the critically acclaimed podcast, The Damon Friedman Show. Dr. Friedman holds a Doctorate in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and recently completed Harvard University’s Executive Education Program in Public Leadership.
