Douglas Boin is a Professor of History at Saint Louis University and the author, most recently, of ALARIC THE GOTH (W.W. Norton), named to The Economist's Best of 2020 list. His essays on the classical world have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post, and he has spoken about the importance of studying ancient history on NPR Weekend Edition and NPR 1A. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his husband.
