Deirdre J. Mitchell is a proud New Orleanian whose warmth and creativity shine through every story she writes. A devoted mother and grandmother to two delightful granddaughters, Deirdre spent her professional life serving others as a Social Services Analyst with the Department of Children and Family Services—Support Enforcement Office. Now retired, she has embraced her lifelong passion for storytelling, dedicating her days to inspiring the imaginations of children around the world.

An avid reader and lover of arts, crafts, and painting, Deirdre finds joy in bringing color and wonder to her stories. Her writing beautifully blends imagination with heart, encouraging children to dream, explore, and believe in the magic of kindness.

Her beloved works include The Adventures of Theresa and Matilda: Two of the Cutest Bumble Bees Ever (along with seven additional books in the Theresa and Matilda series), The Tale of the Secret Keys to Chateau Freya on Shadow Lane, The Thread, Buddy’s Glasses (with four more in the Buddy series), and many others—each filled with adventure, creativity, and joy.

When she’s not writing or traveling, Deirdre can be found painting, reading, or sharing laughter with her family, continuing to inspire young hearts one story at a time.
