David was born in New York in 1950 and grew up in a family with strong philanthropic roots and a commitment to social change. He went on to co-found Innovation Associates, the pioneering consulting firm in the area of organizational learning, that formed the basis for the management classic "The Fifth Discipline". David has a passion for helping people connect to each other in service of the whole and has been enabling them to apply systems thinking to social change initiatives for nearly 25 years. He has recently moved with his wife Marilyn Paul (author of "It's Hard to Make a Difference When You Can't Find Your Keys") and son Jonathan to the San Francisco area.
