Daniel Neep is Senior Editior, Arab Center Washington DC, and Non-resident Fellow, Crown Center for Middle East Studies, Brandeis University. He writes on the politics and history of the modern Levant, where he lived for seven years. He has taught Middle East politics at George Washington University, Georgetown University, and the University of Exeter, and was Research Director (Syria) at the Council for British Research in the Levant. He was educated at Oxford University, the School of Oriental and African Studies, and the Institut Francis d'Etudes Arabes à Damas. He lives in the Washington D.C. region.
