Dakota Jackson is the award-winning and Kirkus-recommended author of The Other Side of the Looking-Glass and The Construction of Shadows series. She published a short story in the Penmen Review in 2023 and was twice shortlisted in the Six Word Wonders contest in 2024. Dakota writes young and new adult fiction that will always feature queer characters, complex found families, and a whole lot of angst before the hopeful ending. Her mission is to shine light upon queer identities like her own and show readers that fear, confronted head-on, can give way to hope. Dakota has an MFA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Film Studies from the University of Connecticut. When she isn’t reading or writing (or pretending to do one of the two), Dakota loves Zumba, kickboxing, rearranging her bookshelf, and binging a good anime.
