D E was born on a winter’s day in the month of May, and left on a doorstep without a note. Stories and writing have always been part of his life. As a young boy he hung out at the town library so much the librarian hired him to put books away and help out. The secret worlds of Heinlein and Tolkien competed with books of plays like 'Our Town' by Thorton Wilder. From a very young age D E wrote stories including a complete, and rather bad, novel at age fifteen, and short stories that culminated with a rejection from the New Yorker instructing the young writer to stick to subjects he was familiar with. Good advice for anyone. Creativity spills over into work (he has been a design engineer in several disciplines) and hobbies (musician). Writing has remained his passion, and the command of language a lifelong goal. Self-criticism is a tough yardstick, but Smiley's Run couldn't be released until D E enjoyed the read. Today D E lives with his wife, Dawn, in Northern New York (way past Westchester) and enjoys their kids and grandkids (and grand-cats) when opportunity presents. He is currently working on a prequel to Smiley's Run.
