Cole Bridger didn’t set out to be an author. He set out to be a present granddad—the kind who shows up early, knows every kid’s number, and claps for both teams. On Saturdays, his tween grandsons pile onto the couch to watch classic highlights, then head outside to reenact the plays in the driveway. Later, they ask for “one more story” before bed: the last-second heave, the golden glove catch, the no-look pass that changed a season. Cole started scribbling those retellings—simple, exciting, and just a few pages long—so the boys could read them on their own. Coaches and parents borrowed them. The stack grew into the GOATS series: quick chapters, wild stats, and a sense that effort, teamwork, and heart are what make a legend. He still writes at a kitchen table in the Midwest, with a well-worn cap, a mug of coffee, and a dog named Scout sleeping under the chair. If you see him at a youth field, he’s the one cheering for a good hustle play and reminding a nervous kid, “Shake it off—next one’s yours.” His books are for anyone who loves a great finish, a fun fact, and the feeling that tomorrow’s game might be the best one yet.
