Chris Monnette is living his second act—not stepping back, but moving forward as an author and storyteller. After a diagnosis of macular degeneration in 2013, he gradually lost much of his central vision and the ability to recognize faces. What began as a devastating loss became a profound awakening. Through writing, Chris discovered a new way of seeing—one rooted in vulnerability, presence, and compassion. His first book, Seeing Clearly: A Memoir of Vision Loss, Emotional Blindness, and Finding My True Self (2022), chronicles that transformation. He is now at work on his second book, a novel, and continues to write essays on resilience, reinvention, and spiritual philosophy. Chris lives in Colorado with his wife, Marilyn, where he explores what it means to live with clarity and purpose.
