Journalist and author Caroline Baum was born and educated in London as the only child of European parents with troubled pasts. Her family is the subject of her first book. She now lives on the south coast of NSW, Australia with her husband, several birds, frogs and eastern water dragons. She has been published in all Australia's major newspapers and contributes to magazines and online media. A greedy reader and a popular interviewer at writers festivals, she has been a judge for several major literary prizes, a broadcaster and TV presenter and is also a keen cook, birdwatcher, beachcomber.
