BD is a Londoner living in Sheffield. She likes reading and writing poetry and crime thrillers. She loves animals, the countryside, art and architecture. She is an artist, stage medium, entertainer, and published author. Her latest book is her memoir Running From Hippos which explains how she reclaimed her life and learnt how to live again in the abyss of abuse and depression. Growing up in the 1950s was totally different to how it is today. We were still re-building from the devastation of war, and were right at the beginning of a multi-cultural society. I was still very young when I first witnessed my father’s jealousy, moods swings and erratic behaviour. My sleep patterns became irregular due to my father and mother’s constant arguments and subsequent events paved the way to abuse, violence and mental health issues.
