Anna grew up in a home filled with books and storytelling. By age 10, she could be found in her room writing her own newsletters or penning her first simple book, A-Z Animals, about animals facing obstacles due to their unique characteristics and the life lessons they gained from those challenges. As a teenager, she dove into the world of writing poetry and music. It wasn’t until college that she began writing fiction, inspired in large part by two of her English professors. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication/English at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She moved to San Jose, California, where she participated in and did presentations for the San Jose Area Writing Project at San Jose State University. She earned her Teaching Credential in English and spent 15 years as a high school English teacher before shifting to serve as the Drama teacher, theater director and producer for an additional 15 years. Her first published book, Grandma’s Garden is a tender multi-generational story about the roots families put down, and how a family’s stories and values get passed on from generation to generation. An avid researcher, adventurer and life-long learner, Anna was hired to write Travel Like a Local- San Jose. She’s also written an outdoor adventure game, The Case of the Missing Gem which was picked up and published on the Questo City Exploration mobile app and on Trip Advisor. Her latest projects flow from her experiences and expertise in theater. She was part of the writing team for the one-act virtual play, Finding Joy, and she’s currently writing a stage adaptation for a novel. Her upcoming book, 50 Things to Know About Managing a Successful Theater Program, comes out in 2026. She hopes it will offer honest, time-saving tips to ease the stress for Drama teachers and community theater organizations. The recipient of the Dorothy Wright Award and recognized by the University of California at Santa Barbara and California State Assemblyman Alex Lee, Anna now spends her time writing from her home in Northern California.
