*** Warning*** So I have really enjoyed LS’s “Rogues” series and this sounded good. Whilst the first book of this trilogy is not bad for £0.99 you then have to read the second and third book to finish the story arc. The problem I have is (1) each additional book is over £3 each With one being barely 200 pages and the other barely 140 pages. That would be bad enough considering the price but (2) each book finishes somewhere around the 70% mark and then includes chapters of the following book AND each book spend a fair amount of time rehashing what happened in the previous books - I assume to bring the reader up to date but considering you cannot read any of these books as stand alone it is just repetitive/padding. The entire 3 books could be put in a single book that would be less than 400pages. I detest authors who string out stories into multiple books just to gouge more money out of a reader. This has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding this author and I would suggest you think carefully about starting this series unless you have cash to waste.
Kat has led a quiet life since becoming a student at Cambridge until her nineteenth birthday. She's in a pub with friends and decides it's time for an adventure. When a gorgeous man walks through the door she is drawn to him and kisses him before deciding to go back to her dorm. Tristan had not expected the reaction he had to her and sets if to follow her.
Simple as that, wow.. This is a brilliantly written book that kept me reading way past my bedtime zzzz (totally worth it) We have Kat who’s studying in Cambridge, and is trying to be a little adventurous, and when she sees Tristan in the pub, after tripping and falling on him, ends up kissing him, and that’s where the story begins.
Tristan wasn’t expecting to feel as intrigued by Kat, as he does, and vows to get to know her, but not all goes to plan when an incriminating photo appears in the paper and scares Kat...
Seriously, this is a three part book story and I can’t wait to devour the others... definitely five stars from me! ⭐️
Kat Roberts met him one snowy night in an English pub. Tristan Kingsley, the future Earl of Pembroke. He’s as gorgeous as a god, funny, sweet, and oh-my-god that accent… With a chiseled jaw, bewitching eyes, and a voice as smooth as a glass of brandy…he’s every woman’s dream. He tempts Kat to leave her carefully laid plans behind as she falls head over tea kettle for this British playboy. Tristan Kingsley went into the bar that night to avoid the duties of his future as a titled lord. When a gorgeous American girl kisses him on a dare from her friends, that kiss turns his world upside down. This is the first part of a series that’s best read in order & after reading this I can't wait to read the next instalment. Tristan is used to having women throwing themselves at him but from the start Kat is different & he’s willing to woo her. Kat hasn't had a serious relationship before & is frightened of being hurt, however the chemistry between the pair is SO hot. Most of this story takes place in Cambridge where they are both studying & I loved it that actual places were part & parcel of the story. Contemporary romances aren’t my favourite genre, I love historical romances but when one of my must read authors writes a different genre then I’ll read it & Ms Smith never disappoints in fact Tristan is a descendant of a character in one of her historical romances. The characterisation is very strong & you really feel that you know the characters. I was drawn in from their first kiss & still enthralled at the end My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
