From start to finish this book kept me enthralled. Miss Marple on steroids indeed; the plot has been well constructed and worked through and I found it so easy to visualise the characters (particularly Granny who, in my mind, is a sort of cross between the Peggy Armstrong character and that of Patricia Routledge when she played the PI series with a corncob pipe thrown into the mix.) I immediately bought the next one and will get them all as they appear. There must surely be a TV series here for someone who tells such a well crafted tale!
Stunning! Granny is back with a vengeance. Another murder and she is set on solving it. Can she do so without upsetting the police too badly? She is simply a terrific character who isn't afraid of being herself. Regardless of whether it is politically correct to do so. A wonderful humorous read.
I do love Granny Smith! Great stories that are let down just slightly by not so great editing. The typos started to get on my nerves towards the end, even the extra bit had them. Other than that I loved Granny and her family including Twice, who seems part of the furniture. Off to read some more now!
A light, funny story with a mystery for Granny to solve. I really enjoyed the first book - Granny Smith Investigates- so had to read this one.
A shorter story than the first book but still has all the ingredients to make it a good read. I was laughing out loud at the part where Granny Smith's son returns home unexpectedly. Really funny!
G M Dobbs has the ability to give a brief description of a character which builds an image of their personality and what they look like so you feel you know them. This is a real talent especially for short stories.
Would recommend reading this after the first book.
A good fun read even though both killer and motive were obvious. I was also surprised by how many people lived in flats. Surely in a Welsh village most residents would be housed in cottages. Worth a read though for the humour alone.
Once again the pipe-smoking granny is on a search for the truth after a 'Save our frogs' activist is found very dead, and yet again she leaves no stone unturned, and of course upsets the local constabulary. A great fun read.
