I thought this book would be good as I like stories set in wartime etc, however, once started it felt a chore to finish as the story content is predictable and as such the book reading less enjoyable as there were and are no surprises. That saying if it was a choice between reading this book or playing Tiddly Winks in the dark I'd probably choose the book..
Pity there weren't 6 stars to tick! Addictive story with turns and twists. Light easy reading. Writer has spent a lot of time on research to make this story believable. Another good book for traveling with!
Not many accounts of family life in the forties and fifties are so skilfully written and what makes it a good read is the speed at which it moves and the relationships that are forged. Definitely on my Read Again list.
I enjoy reading about this time period and how relationships changed or developed during the WW2. I gave the book 3 stars because for me there were too many characters that lacked depth of personality: and I found the plot a bit predictable. So although the plot didn't grip me; it was an easy and enjoyable read.
