This is my favourite book and I read it for the first time while I was in my early teens. Barnes managed to resonate with me, a young girl who felt lost and uncomfortable in her own skin. I read along as Aurora battled anorexia and eventually let her inhibitions go and became free. It made me feel better and more hopeful about my own life. The book is graphic but I found it to make the book even more engaging and shocking. Barnes writes Aurora in a way that will make you feel sympathetic for her but disgusted with her at the same time.
