The 'South Atlantic' action of the title is a bit slow in coming around in the book. It's as well the action in the beginning is of the usual Reeman high standard. Thoroughly enjoyable read, although the main character is somewhat mawkish. I enjoyed overall and ex naval readers should also.
I really enjoyed this book. The human aspects were very good as was the naval aspects of the tale. The best was the characters, all different and all good. The story is about people coming together in 1941 onto an armed merchant ship and how they began to gel as a team, dealt with stress and love. I will be reading more of this authors books.
