Each book continues the story of the Sovranos mafia family. The narration is suited to the characters and I always take that into account when listening to each story. I almost passed this by because of a negative review about a couple of narrators. If you can immerse yourself in the story it really opens you up to the characters. They are meant to have personalities as in rl, that doesn't mean we have to like them or in fact hate them. That's part of the fun watching the characters develop or have quirky personalities. There were moments in the story progressions were I actually didn't see something coming and it was a great realisation. I love when a story can surprise you or change your opinion via the narrator playing the part well. The author covers the genre well with her story telling and is not afraid to develop strong characters with sometimes annoying or quirky or alphahole tendencies. This boxset was free as part of my audible plus and I will be looking for other titles from this author. 💖📖24/7

A Very Mafia Christmas gets 3x5-stars from me. It is the best of the Sovrano box set. Great possessive billionaire trope. Made me laugh, and had a good storyline. A bit of a dickhead, and as damaged as the other brothers, Christian thought all problems in relationship with his woman could be resolved with said part of his anatomy, plus a spanking. But he could be charming, loving and very human, whilst hiding his vulnerability. Beautifully drawn character. I warmed to him. He heard 'NO' and always stepped back. Aiden Snow gets 10/10 for narration. He brought Christian to life. Found Aurora a bit irritating, behaving very childishly for a doctor. She eventually redeems herself (and Christian), forcing him to grow up and change his macho mafia ways.

Also liked Axel and Teresa's story. Took a second listen for me to warm to Michael and Karma. I eventually got over his limited vocab (mainly the F and P words although he could recite Byron!) and her father high-pitched tone. I tend to avoid that particular male narrator, doesn't do it for me. That raspy, gravelly voice always sounds too old for the part - can't imagine him as young, virile and handsome...

The other stories were nothing to write home about. And JJ's story just didn't fit - a non sequitur. Why wasn't it Adrian's, the last brother's story?

Maybe it’s because these were my first “mafia” books, I’m not sure, but, I was disappointed. Michael and Karma’s story was good, Christian and Aurora’s was good too. I didn’t even bother to listen to Axel and Teresa’s story because I found Teresa’s character and voice annoying in the previous book. Sebastian’s story was good and I liked Luca and Jeanne’s story and characters great. I was looking forward to Massimo and Olivia’s story but was so frustrated with Olivia’s character. She was a strange one and I found myself shouting “Massimo! I’ll have you! She doesn’t deserve you!!” I get that she’s portrayed as being a driven woman, but all the other female characters were portrayed as being strong females too. She was just annoying as hell.
PS: please stop the OMG’s (they’re really cringy) JJ’s and Lena’s story was ok, but I would probably put that to the narration.

Disappointed

Review may be a little unfair but I struggled to listen as far as I did, I know the fmc is young but I just couldn't listen to O.M.G one more time! There was no real depth to the storyline & character development was minimal.
I might return to the later books in the future, however this is only for the narrators.
