I’ve had this book in my e-reader for almost a decade and never got to actually read it. As I now finally did, when I once again heard about the author I basically got the audio and listened through it in almost just one setting. I’ve been so stupid- waiting that long and neglecting this one.
A fascinating story that has you hooked. Though it reminds me quite a lot of another series (Trident Security by S. C. - or the other way around as this series is older than the other). Anyway, great story/start of as series that has very much potential for future books.

The first book in the Masters and Mercenaries series and the introduction of the now infamous Taggart Security. The Dom Who Loved Me opens with Sean Taggart going undercover to unearth an eco-terrorist. His target is Grace, a slightly older widow who may or may not be involved. His job is to find out what she knows by any means possible, and the dominant Sean soon spots Grace’s inherent submissive nature and introduces her to the world of BDSM. The overall storyline had me engrossed right from the start with plenty of twists and turns, building the suspense before reaching a dramatic conclusion but I can’t help but feel a little let down by the character of Sean. At times he came across as being a bit juvenile in his behaviour instead of the 32 he was and a couple of the things he did crossed a line especially when she still didn’t know his who he really was. His feelings for Grace were a bit too instalove and as for Grace, well she was just a bit too quick to forgive him.

As a rule, I generally prefer audiobooks with dual narration, but Ryan West did a fantastic job here. Even if I did feel his female voices were a bit meh, his performance of the various male characters was fantastic as he gave each one a its own distinct twist making it easy to differentiate between each one, something I appreciated given the large number of male characters in this book. I do have to say though that I did have to increase the playback speed of this audio as the default setting was just too much of a drawn-out drawl.

Great narration especially of the male characters
