An instant New York Times bestseller!

He’s everything I’ve been taught to fear …

When Imogen Demotta is sold at auction to Lincoln Knight, she fears she’s escaping one prison for another. Twice her age, Lincoln is an eccentric and reclusive billionaire, a genius or a monster depending on who you ask, his face hidden behind a mask as inscrutable as his actions.

But what if everything I’ve ever known has been a lie?

When Imogen arrives at his mansion, she soon realizes she and Lincoln are both haunted by their past, fighting demons that threaten to consume them. Can passion form in the ashes of their shared torment, or will it burn them both before they have a chance to escape?

I was trained to be a pawn…

But I will rise as a queen.

Can’t wait for book two. Had me hooked. I have enjoyed the performance of the narrators.

Fantastic

Absolutely gripping from start to finish. This story pulls you in almost instantly and doesn’t let go… dark, intense, and layered with emotion in a way that keeps you fully invested the whole way through. The characters feel raw and real, and the tension builds so naturally that you’re constantly on edge, needing to know what happens next.

The narrators deserve a special mention because they completely elevated the experience. Their performances brought every moment to life… capturing the vulnerability, the intensity, and the darker undertones perfectly. You can feel the emotion in every line, which makes the story hit even harder.

And that ending… wow. The cliffhanger was cruel. Perfect, but absolutely cruel. The kind that leaves you staring into space for a minute, wondering what you’re supposed to do with yourself now.

I’m already counting down for book 2.

Absolutely gripping from start to finish.

Easily the best work I've read/listened to by Sadie Kincaid. Brilliant duet narration. however, I just wish I had waited until book 2 is out in November before listening as I'm desperate to know what happens next! the ending was just so so cruel...with a 7 month wait I have big expectations of book 2!

just...wow

June deBorahae was absolutely phenomenal in this. Her performance brought so much emotion and life to the story. I struggled a little with Lincoln’s narration in comparison as it felt slightly stiff at times and didn’t carry the same emotional weight for me, but that’s obviously subjective and may just come down to personal preference. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.

I need to know what happens next.

This book made me uncomfortable. When the story does’nt back up any of the yearning, ”love” or make you cringe over silly nicknames, it totally lost me. I’m all for spice and sessy scenes, but it needs to make some sense! This FMC feels like an innocent child introduced to the ”world” for the first time by a predator. I know that the MMC struggles with himself and his actions, but a lot of the spice is from his POV. Which does’nt help. ”The Auction” premise is what you get, but maybe it could’ve been a great book with a better story. I just get the ick when this man calls her ”baby” when that’s essentially what she is.. Nedless to say, Icould not finish it.

Made me uncomfortable
