I love the contrast of the two main characters and the build up over time. The inner turmoil of Conor is palpable. The female narrator is fantastic. She has so much charm and portrays every emotion in such detail. The male narrator is fabulous as well, his accent is lovely, although a bit too breathy at times. I could not stop listening.

Great Hazelwood book, but the narration for this was horrible(mmc). Although for the first time I a Hazelwood FMC that was greatly casted.

Read the book, the audio isn't worth it

I have really enjoyed other Ali Hazlewood audio books on Audible I couldn’t enjoy this one thanks to the narration. Maya in her own voice was good and believable but the Scottish female accents were hard to take seriously - I am Scottish and live in Edinburgh and we don’t sound like that. I would have also hoped that in her 3 years studying in Edinburgh that she would have learnt to pronounce it correctly. I could forgive the comic accents but they obviously couldn’t stretch the budget on the male narrator who made every single line sound like he was in pain. The same actor, who was genuinely Irish so the accent was also genuine, however he also played Maya’s American brother with exactly the same Irish accent. It made understanding conversations between them very confusing. If you fancy it read the book however it’s definitely not my favourite Ali Hazlewood

Dodgy accents and singular emotion from male narrator ruined this for me
