This is Alex and Eve's second chance romance.
They were married once,but have now been divorced for a few years ,because of an assignment that went wrong and Eve paid the consequences for it.
It has been hinted in the other 3 books that something bad happened to Eve and we discover what that was in this book all those years ago,inevitibly ending their marriage.
Eve is a criminal profiler and she had been taken and brutalised by Michael Evans a man Alex was hunting, for acts of terrorism etc..
For 7 days she was subjected to horrific things by Evan's and almost lost her life.
Alex is ex FBI and now works with his friend Ian Taggart in their security firm,he then becomes obsessed with catching Michael Evans and executing his revenge,and it causes a distance between Alex and Eve and they drift apart.
Now Michael Evans is Back !!
Alex is going undercover as a Dom in residence at one of the clubs that has a connection to Evans,but Alex needs an undercover Submissive.
Unknown to Alex Eve is that Sub and they must work together to bring down all the bad guys.
This story is a bit emotional because Alex and Eve still love eachother,they aren't married anymore but have a contract in place were Alex is still her Dom.
It was sad that their marriage seems completely unsalvageable.
They use the time on assignment to reconcile and work out their issues from the past and to find their way back to eachother.
Ryan West is EXCELLENT as always Narrating this book,he plays every single character to perfection and I really enjoy his storytelling...He is such an Amazing talent.
There is alot to unpack in this book and with Lexi Blakes flair for shocks there are some surprises and unexpected twists....and that cliff hanger with Ian OMG !!!..I DID NOT EXPECT THAT.
I enjoyed listening to this story and I am looking forward to book 5 and to see if they finally get Mr.Black aka Eli Nelson.
