About this listen

He was supposed to be a myth.

But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell...he was, quite simply, mine.

Society darling Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start over far from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses. But all that's ripped away when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, the dangerous power behind their glittering city's dark facade.

With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil's bargain with a man she once believed a myth...a man who awakens her to a world she never knew existed.

Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he's spent years craving, it's all the excuse he needs to help her - for a price. Yet every breathless night spent tangled together has given Hades a taste for Persephone, and he'll go to war with Olympus itself to keep her close....

Some of the narration felt stunted, and the story was simple, but fun overall.

Fun mindless romp

Engaging story, very spicy with great characters. Awful characterisation from both readers making the spice unbearable in places.

Excellent story, dreadful narration

I recently finished Neon Gods, and I have to say, I couldn't put it down. From the first page to the last, the story gripped me, and I devoured it faster than any book in recent memory. This is coming from someone who usually struggles to finish a book promptly, so you know it's something special.

The author masterfully weaves a tale that is not only spicy but done with a finesse that's rare to find. The narrative unfolds seamlessly, keeping me on the edge of my seat with every twist and turn. What's impressive is how the spice is woven into the storyline – not just for shock value, but as an integral part of the characters' lives and the plot.

Speaking of characters, I found myself incredibly invested in their journeys. Each character felt like a real person with depth, flaws, and growth. I laughed with them, felt their pain, and celebrated their victories. It's a sign of a well-crafted story when you find yourself thinking about the characters long after you've closed the book.

The writing style is impeccable. The author has a way with words that makes the narrative flow effortlessly. Descriptive without being overwhelming, and emotive without being melodramatic, it strikes the perfect balance. The pacing is spot-on, keeping the story moving briskly while allowing the reader to savor every moment.

And the best part? As soon as I turned the last page, I found myself reaching for the next book. That's the mark of a truly captivating read – it leaves you hungry for more.

In summary, Neon Gods is a must-read for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, spicy narrative with characters that feel like old friends. Kudos to the author for delivering a story that not only captivates but lingers, leaving me eagerly anticipating their next literary creation. Highly recommended!

A Page-Turner Full of Spice and Substance

Since I don't always read the blurb I've stumbled upon Hades and Persephony stories 4 times the last 3 months and this one was different from the others. They were all good, but this one became a breath of fresh air. Not suprised tho, as Katee always delivers.

Btw. One thing they all had in comon was the focus on concent 💜

A different take on Persepony and Hades

The story was a modern retelling of the Persephone and Hades story and there was no slow burn here! It gets very spicy very quickly but I agree with other reviews that say that Hades wasn’t bad enough to be god of the underworld.
The main issue I had was the narration. Both read the story well but the character voices were difficult to listen to. The female’s Hades voice was a stock gruff villain, the male’s Persephone was whiny and a bit pathetic, and neither seemed to have listened to how the other was performing the characters.
An easy modern fantasy story but one I wish I’d just have stuck to the hard copy of the book with.

Easy read but a difficult listen
