About this listen

Tahoe Roth.
Irreverent, cocky, playful, and naughty.
He’s not the guy you date.
He’s the one night stand.
The one your mother warned you about.
The one your body craves.

You’d think the man who called me succulent would want to strip me down and spread me out on his bed—like he’s done with countless others.

But he passed on my offer….

Just like I’d once passed on his.

He’s wary, like I am.

He’s broken, like I am.

And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.

Tahoe and I are strictly friends.

So I distract myself with other men.

He doesn’t think my new man is good enough. This blond, blue-eyed beast doesn’t think any man is—himself included.

But the more time we spend together, the more confused I feel.

I'm trying to open myself to love.

Yet I'm quickly realizing that the only man I want is Tahoe Roth.

The one man who will surely break my heart.

This book was… so-so for me. I really wanted to love it, especially after how much I enjoyed the earlier books in this universe, but it just didn’t give me the same emotional pull.

The story felt very slow-paced, and I kept waiting for it to truly begin. Unfortunately, it only started to feel more engaging near the very end — and then it was already over.

Compared to the intensity and excitement of the first books, this one felt a bit stretched out and didn’t create the same butterflies or connection for me.

It was still nice to hear small mentions of Malcolm and Rachel again, which was definitely a highlight. But overall, this installment didn’t quite work for me, and I don’t think I’ll continue with the next books in the series.

Not terrible, just not as captivating as I hoped.

After reading Manwhore I was so excited to read Tahoe and Gina's story, and as much as I loved it, I found it quite emotional. Both Tahoe and Gina have low self esteem issues. Neither of them feel as if they deserve love, or that they can love, I found it quite sad really. I found Gina, (who I originally thought as a strong woman), to be very weak, and far too accommodating and forgiving with Tahoe. Tahoe was a complete and utter Manwhore, who did not remotely try to tone his whorish ways in Gina's presence. It wasn't until the latter half of the book when I learned their histories and their issues that I felt any compassion for either of them and could actually relate to them, Tahoe in particular. I actually fell for Tahoe once I heard his full story and I could understand his inner workings. Very angsty, and definitely not a fun read. Still enjoyed it though. Of course the fantastic narration helped.
