Probably a bit more of a blunt review than usual, but honestly, I don’t know why I’m still reading this series. FOMO? Morbid curiosity? At this point, I’m really not sure. 😂

There are some seriously cheesy moments that had me cringing or rolling my eyes, BUT… of the three books, I actually think this is the story I’ve enjoyed the most. You just have to get through the occasional “what the hell did I just read/listen to?” moments. (and I don't mean in terms of the spice, that's a gimme in these books it's the dialogue and plot choices that have me cringing)

The overall story arc is very similar to Kiss of the Basilisk, but as a prequel focusing on Daphne, Maximus and Kronos, I think having the knowledge from the first two books, combined with characters that feel a little better written, makes this a much more enjoyable story.

Kronos is definitely the star of the show for me, but getting to see more of everyone’s history and how everything fits together was really interesting.

On Audible, the narration also works really well for the characters. And Jackson Keeling doing Bastian… he sounds like Charles Dance, which is absolutely no bad thing.

So, despite all my eye-rolling, Apparently I’m committed to seeing this series through to the bitter end. 🤷‍♀️
