I try not to spoil anyone’s reading joys, but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I started listening to the L.A. Ruthless series because I had already read Broken Bloodlines by Sadie Kincaid and loved both the plot and her writing style. This time, I was looking for something lighter than my usual intense and emotional reads, an easy listen with interconnected books I could sink into. Fierce King gave me exactly that.
The Story
Today is Alana Carmichael’s wedding day. In just moments, she will become Mrs Alejandro Montoya—the King of L.A. Handsome, powerful, rich, and feared, Alejandro has everything… except love. For him, this marriage is nothing more than business, a way to strengthen his legacy and please his father.
But Alana is no spoiled princess, no pawn to be played. She’s strong, kind-hearted, and determined to do the right thing, even when trapped in the ruthless world of the Montoya crime family. Alejandro thinks he knows who she is, but he couldn’t be more wrong.
Their marriage of convenience soon becomes much more. Between power struggles, family loyalties, and the dangerous mafia underworld, sparks fly, secrets unravel, and both Alana and Alejandro find themselves facing firsts they never expected.
Why I Loved It
I really enjoyed the pacing of this story, it keeps the drama unfolding while never feeling overwhelming. The mafia backdrop is gritty and dangerous, but Sadie Kincaid balances it with a romance that’s passionate, emotional, and surprisingly tender at times.
Alana is a fantastic heroine: strong, moral, and unwilling to give up on herself even when trapped in a world she never chose. Alejandro, on the other hand, is formidable, powerful, and sometimes infuriating focused only on business, legacy, and making his father proud. Watching their relationship evolve from forced marriage to genuine connection was addictive.
What makes this series even more exciting is how it ties into Sadie Kincaid’s other books. Fans of her New York, Chicago, and Manhattan series will love seeing those threads weave together here.
Audiobook
Narrated by Charlotte Claremont & Gregory Salinas, the performance was excellent. Both narrators brought the characters to life with depth and emotion. They captured the intensity of the story and the personalities of Alana and Alejandro perfectly. Narration rating: 5/5 stars.
Final Thoughts
Fierce King had me laughing, tearing up, and immediately downloading the next book as soon as I finished. It’s dark, dramatic, witty, and oh so spicy. Sadie Kincaid never disappoints, she’s my go to author when I want mafia romance done right.
Highly recommended for fans of dark mafia romance with plenty of fire.

The rest of the story was ok though. I do wish Sadie didn’t leave the ‘Lucy’ plot on a cliffhanger, but that’s just me being impatient🤦♀️😂
