About this listen

"This is a must-read for anyone in their Daddy era! Have fun and bring a fan because this one is hot from page one to the end."

After finding out the baby his fiancée is carrying is not biologically his, Theo Reeves leaves town and vows to never come back.

That is until, 22 years later he returns to handle his late mother’s estate. The hatred of being back in his hometown drives him to a dive bar just outside city limits.

A night he planned on spending alone and drinking away the memories, is interrupted by a blonde half his age he can't help but be drawn to. Something about her green eyes and the way she despises this town nearly as much as he does, has him wanting to make some reckless decisions.

Aria Mason was never given the chance to be seen as anything other than “the affair baby”. Having spent the last 21 years getting side-eyed and excluded, the attention from an attractive stranger was a breath of fresh air.

That air was ripped from her lungs the second she found out this mysterious tattooed stranger, she let ravage her in the dingy bar bathroom, was actually her mom’s ex-fiancee, and was the man she was supposed to grow up calling Daddy.

First off, a massive thank you to Katie A. Perez for gifting me this masterpiece! I’m so grateful for the eARC and ALC of this novella—your generosity knows no bounds. This short and spicy story was exactly the easy read I needed. The spice? SPICING. The story? Perfectly paced for something under 100 pages. And the characters? Surprisingly developed for a novella of this length. The plot follows Theo Reeves and Aria Mason. Theo starts the story engaged and expecting his first child—or so he thought. His life gets flipped upside down when he discovers that his fiancée has been cheating on him with multiple men, and the baby isn’t his. Heartbroken, Theo leaves his hometown and stays away for over two decades. Fast forward to the present, and he’s back to settle his late mother’s estate. That’s when things heat up. In a bar bathroom, Theo finds himself hooking up with a stunning blonde about half his age… only to later discover that she’s the girl who would’ve been calling him “Daddy” if he’d stayed in his old relationship. Katie… Katie… KATIE! Ma’am, WHAT was that cliffhanger?! I’m still recovering. But let me start from the beginning. For a novella that’s less than 100 pages, the story felt full and satisfying. Theo and Aria meet, and within a week, they’re moving in together and jet-setting across the country. Somehow, it works—they have a genuine connection, even if it develops quickly. The spice is front and center, but it’s balanced by emotional depth. The kink exploration was done so well, and even the “daddy” kink, which usually isn’t my thing, didn’t bother me. I actually loved the caretaking, possessiveness, and protective vibes. And the “good girl” moments? FERAL. Katie’s writing is smooth and captivating. Yes, this is a spice-heavy plot, but it’s not just porn on paper—there are actual storylines woven in. That said, the ending leaves you desperate for more. “What does Theo actually do for a living?” Because, let’s be honest, the man has big mafioso/organized crime vibes. He’s throwing $100 tips like it’s pocket change and renting out entire boutiques for Aria. And then there’s Tatum Russel’s ominous “We have a problem” at the end. WHAT PROBLEM?! I need answers, Katie! The audiobook was fantastic as well. The duet narration brought Theo and Aria to life beautifully, and the narrators nailed their performances. All in all, I loved this novella. I definitely wanted more, but for what it was, it hit all the right notes. If you’re into spice-heavy romances with a solid storyline, pick this one up—you won’t regret it!
