“I am justice.
I am vengeance.
For those you have caused pain and suffering.
You cannot expect to harm others and walk away unpunished.”
When abused again by another man, Scarlett falls into an intense void of anguish and torment. Screaming and crying to the heavens for God or the angels to protect and help her. Her cries go unanswered and time passes slowly.
They say time heals all wounds but hers fester and rot. Despair digging its claws deeply into her flesh and heart. Forever changed on a fundamental level.
In the shadows of her life halted, unlived, it is not an angel who extends a hand to help her back onto her feet. It is a demon.
A soft whisper shared old secrets giving Scarlett the supernatural ability to rain hell on Earth down upon those who have harmed her. She becomes justice.
This is a seductive take on feminine rage, revenge, and the healing act of vengeance.
In Book One, Scarlett begins her focus on a list of names to seek retribution, starting with her ex-boyfriend, Lust.

Blood Curse: Lust is a novella set between the fictional town of Rosemond and Edinburgh. It is book one in a series centring FMC Scarlett, who has suffered abuse from romantic partners throughout her life. Scarlett is close to turning 40, is curvy, beautiful, intelligent and a witch. She has spent time trying to heal but struggling to do so. Deep within her depression and the suffocating weight of trauma, she is granted magical powers to save herself, and if she chooses to enact vengeance upon abusive men.
We meet Scarlett as she sets out to destroy her ex-boyfriend Lust, the first name on her list seeking revenge.
This story is told from both POVs of Scarlett and Lust, as we follow the psychological and physical torment and torture she magically inflicts upon him.
Lust’s story comes to a satisfying end within this novella, setting up the next name on the list; Wrath.
This story is violent, gory and gruesome. The horror is splatterpunk and the themes are heavy on domestic abuse and SA. There is psychological horror elements as well as magic, different realms, demons and a wolf-like monster who comes to Scarlett’s aid.
The character of Lust was loosely based upon a man I dated. Writing this novella was cathartic and helpful, a way to let go of past hurt and stop allowing it control over me as I move forward in both my personal and professional life.
In the audiobook, Kyle Hyde brings a fantastic range to the story. There is a delicate air to the performance of both Scarlett and Lust given some of the topics discussed. The production is brutal in its delivery. I was extremely lucky to have such talent involved in the creation of this audiobook. Kyle is also the narrator for I’m Glad You Were Watching Me and Beware the Rosemond Ripper.
