After stumbling upon an ancient, dusty office sealed away from the rest of the Tower, Liana makes a shocking discovery. Her first instinct is to flee - until she realizes all is not what it seems. The room has been hidden for a reason. It holds secrets about the Tower's past and answers that could be key to her people's future. But with this knowledge comes grave danger, as Liana will quickly discover....
towards the end I started to struggle to follow the story as a dyslexic. Apart from that I found it really engaging and couldn't stop listening staying up later each night to hear a bit more.

How do you fight an enemy when they're inside your mind? A gargantuan glass-walled tower looms over a deadly wilderness. They say it's all that's left. The Tower's survival is humanity's survival, and each must serve it faithfully.... Twenty-year-old Liana Castell must be careful what she thinks. Her life is defined by the number on her wristband - a rating out of 10 awarded based on her usefulness and loyalty to the Tower, and monitored by a device in her skull. A device that reports forbidden thoughts.
It took me a couple of chapters to really get on with the writing style and the characters but then I was hooked and couldn't stop listening! Can not wait for the next instalment!
Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven continues weaving his web in an attempt to maintain control over his country - and his prisoner. As Mare remains trapped in the palace, the remnants of the Red Rebellion continue organizing and expanding. As they prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows, Cal, the exiled prince, will stop at nothing to bring her back.
loved the way different peoples narations are by different people! srory leaves you on the edge of your seat ! ups and downs you will not be able to tear yourself away! ejoy
One of the genre's favorite pair return in a classic fantasy short for both Riyria veterans and first-time readers. Several years have past since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start their thieves-for-hire organization better known as Riyria. Things have gone well enough for the team as they do "jobs" for various nobles throughout Elan. Usually, that means stealing something, but when a young heiress asks them to steal her…well, that's a first for the pair. All is not as it seems, but Royce is determined to get the bottom of what's actually going on. After all, he has his professional integrity at stake.
So if this was not free i don't think anyone would have paid for it!
As for a taster to let you into the world it is set in and the lore suronding it I found this a good way of doing it because I think we all have books that we think we will get into but a couple of chapters in we don't want to read another word? I think more writers should try this and see if sales improve
If there's one thing Mare Barrow knows, it's that she's different. Mare's blood is red - the colour of common folk - but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control. The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from the prince and friend who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.
so I have been listening to this book over the last few days and found that in places it slowed to a place I felt I was going to sleep! then it seamed to flash by and lose me altogether I will listen again a fee times and see if can understand. it could be that it's a little to much for this dyslexicto graps
This is a world divided by blood--red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of godlike superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own.
Started this book and was thinking another magic/love and hate book ..... but I was pleasantly surprised it has depth, the characters really come to life and you can see all the places they go in your minds eye because of the easy simple way both the author and reader have of explaining everything! Strong story can't wait to see how it grows in book 2
Callum Hunt's life has fallen apart. His friend is gone. The spy has escaped. His secret is out. He is facing an existence behind bars, banished from the rest of the magical community for what he is - for what he might become. But a shocking revelation has promised freedom - at a cost. Will he stay strong, and faithful to his friends and teachers? Or take the risk, and destroy everything he's ever loved? This fourth year at the Magisterium will be unlike anything else that has gone before....
So far I have loved the story arc and each individual book on its own! however this book felt like they where setting up for the final book! I felt the story seamed stretched out and was really thin in places! I still love the characters and I really hope that when the final book comes out it will all start to gel together and I will understand the need for it!
It should be a time of celebration. The Enemy of Death is dead; a severed head proof of his downfall. The magical world has no reason to believe otherwise, and Callum, Tamara and Aaron are celebrated as heroes. But at a party held in their honour, things go horribly, brutally wrong. A fellow student is callously murdered, and it seems Call's worst fears are confirmed: there is a spy in the Magisterium.
wow another amazing book in the set! so glad I already have book 4! Really amazing set of books! Up there with Harry Potter and Percy Jackson!
Callum Hunt's summer break isn't like other kids'. His closest companion is a Chaos-ridden wolf, Havoc. His father suspects him of being secretly evil. And, of course, most kids aren't heading back to school in the magical world of the Magisterium.... It's not easy for Call...and it gets even harder after he checks out his basement and discovers that his dad might be trying to destroy both him and Havoc. Call escapes to the Magisterium, but things only intensify there.
Waiting for the next rick riordan book I thought I would have a look at this set of books! However they are so good I'm working my way though the set fast! Great characters great story very excited for the next book!
The god Apollo, cast down to earth and trapped in the form of a gawky teenage boy as punishment, must set off on the second of his harrowing (and hilarious) trials. He and his companions seek the ancient oracles - restoring them is the only way for Apollo to reclaim his place on Mount Olympus - but this is easier said than done. Somewhere in the American Midwest is a haunted cave that may hold answers for Apollo in his quest to become a god again...if it doesn't kill him or drive him insane first.
What a shame there can not be 4 titles released every month! I know it would take all of rich presents and a darn site more authors but I love the family and want to know what's going to happen next! amazing that's all I can say!
