For the passed few days I've been in that peculiar state where I was longing to find out what happened in the end without wanting the book to finish.
But what joy, it's part of a trilogy. So I downloaded Book 2 without waiting. The characters in this novel are so believable, Kit and Thomas, Sir John and Richard, even Walter, though the Welsh voices need some practice, you could almost think that Toby Clements wrote this book thinking that Jack Hawkins was going to read it.
If you love historical novels or even if you just love a romping good story with brilliantly drawn characters then download this book now and put the rest of your life on hold for a bit.

I love historical novels, amongst other types of books, but I can take the genre in lots of different guises. This series is turning into a brilliant series with Thomas and Katherine (Kit) on another set of adventures in pursuit of.....well I'm not quite sure...but along the way there are some brilliant twists and turns and loads of new, interesting characters to keep readers enthralled.
The book ends with a real cliff hanger but no spoilers here, you'll have to listen/read it to find out. Our narrator, as always, is brilliant and it's hard to tell whether the characterisation is so good because of the excellent narration by Jack Hawkins or the brilliant definition by the author. Either way it's a match made in heaven and roll on Book Three.
