This may have been the first book in a good series but sadly, for me, this was ruined by an absolutely awful narration by Clare Corbett. So bad was it..Show More » that I had to abandon the book by Chapter 16. It was ok to start with, then I noticed audible intakes of breath which made the young Edith's voice sound girly and a little breathless. Which was obviously fine while Edith was young. However this got worse and worse and became almost incessant. I began to anticipate the breaths.
Sadly the accents were also poor particularly that of Edith's Welsh husband who sounded like a pantomime dame. Unfortunately, this made the mental image of the sex scenes between the two laughable. I'm glad I got out before investing any more of my time but I do hate to abandon a good story!
