I really, really enjoyed this listen, well read by the multiple narrators this was a great first outing for the writer. Great story, we have all p..Show More »robably read or seen stories of a similar note done before in other novels and in film but that does not stop this being a gritty and original piece of work and it certainly did keep me entertained for the full nine hours( I did listen to it in one sitting) Its the attention to detail that makes this a strong piece, the viewpoints of various victims, survivors and indeed the tormenter add depth to this tale and it made me ask myself "what would I do?" My five out of five was mostly given due to the lead female protagonist who is not only flawed but is somewhat very dark and this makes her so much more interesting than some of the other lead female detectives in circulation at the moment, the other characters are also flawed yet solid and well written and I do hope that we will hear more about them if the writer brings this team back together for another book. Great Listen, well worth the money or a credit!
Fast pace, interesting, edge of my seat throughout
This is second book in series and equally as good as the first. I thought the narrative was excellent and added to overall enjoyment. Helen Grace and ..Show More »some of her team return with a new department lead and new murders to solve. Helen is a troubled character (as seems to be the norm in many detective novels!). Clues were followed up and when the details of the killer emerged I was shocked as I had not guessed it. The next book in the series is out in February and I will certainly be getting it. I would highly recommend this one.
I have listened to all three Helen Grace books in rapid succession - and the stories are fantastic. This - the 3rd - was just as good as the first 2. ..Show More »I felt total empathy with the characters of Helen, Charlie, Ruby and Sanderson - less with the Kerry woman! The last hour flew by with me holding my breath or gasping in horror for most of it. Please be quick with the next one :)
I would not listen to Liar Liar again because I do not think it has any hidden depths - however, for me, that is not the point: it is an entertaining ..Show More »listen the first time around and it held my attention throughout.
I am amazed that anyone thought this was good. The story line is totally implausible and fatuous. It was more like a grizzly fairy tale than anythin..Show More »g that would happen in real life. It is quite literally a 'story' and not a very good one at that. I was so pleased when it came to an end.
Having read all of this series this one was a bit far fetched and the storyline much more predictable than its predecessors. I will still purchase the..Show More » next one though and look forward to a return to the usual excellent storylines and fuller characters.
