I had never read anything by David Farland before this novel, I only found it when I searched for other books narrated by Ray Porter as I love his nar..Show More »ration and voice and have read many of the books he has narrated. This novel actually suited my love of fantasy, history and action, it had everything I could have wanted in a book. I was surprised to find out how many sequels there have been, I now have a lot of catching up to do and I carnt wait to follow the story to its conclusion and finally i have a few months of good novels to keep me occupied. I must admit that you carnt help but compare this novel to the Lord of the rings and game of thrones, but personally I have enjoyed this more than either of those. The characters are endearing, especially Gaborn and Iome and you feel you could follow them to the end of the earth and never waver and of course Ray Porters performance was flawless. I have already purchased book two and three and I will be speedily devouring them as soon as possible to catch up. In conclusion it's a must read for anyone who has enjoyed Game of thrones or Lord of the rings, or to be honest anyone who enjoys fantasy novels.
An epic conclusion to Gaborns story which I very much enjoyed, it was full of action and some truly gripping moments. But above all it was the ending ..Show More »to a journey which I have thoroughly immersed myself in and found exciting and thrilling. Certain characters finally get there well deserved comeuppance which I found very satisfying. But it was the end for the journey and for many characters and I carnt help feeling I have lost some good friends but I'm looking forward to the next four books and the next chapters in this incredible world.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this new instalment after the conclusion of the last book. I felt that without Gaborn there would be no point, but I..Show More » was pleasantly surprised. It felt like a fresh start but had enough of the old to feel familiar and it was still packed with excitement and a great story that's building into something even bigger than the first four books. Ray porters narration as always was brilliant and flawless, my only criticism is the length of the book, it felt tiny compared to the first four books and I feel it could have been longer.
