Picked this one up mainly for the reader, Amber Benson. And the read is fine -- a little hectic perhaps, but that is in keeping with the material. ..Show More »> Sadly, this book turned out to be not for me. It is first-person narration (an ongoing rant and whinge, really), and the character is thoroughly unpleasant. As is the world in general. Not so much grimdark as gross-out disgusting. A lot of the descriptive passages are simply vile. Is it spoilerish to mention vomiting of bone and guts after our heroine becomes both a vampire and a loup-garou? Maybe. Forget I said anything. The plot involved rather too much obfuscation for my liking. Long tunnel, no light at all. DNF.
