it is a teen series but i am 31 and i love it. It is not ur normal vampire story. The girl gets marked and has to go to the house of night for the 4..Show More » year change. The first book in the series is her life at the house of night for the first month of her change. You think this is just going to be a normal teen but it is not. It is for everyone that love vampire stories of all ages. Once you start listening to the story u will not be able to put it down. And audible uk is the best!!!
As with Marked, I found this book gripping, although it took a little longer for me to get into. While I appreciate the books are being told from a te..Show More »enager's point of view and therefore have to sound like that, I think it was over done in certain places. The use of words like 'totally' and 'gazilian' as well as made up words like 'gihugic' did start to grow a bit repetative. While I don't generally approve of books where a girl strings several guys along, I have to accept that it makes for a more interesting story. What I like the most about this series is my inability to predict what will happen at any given moment. I've always hated books where you've worked out the plot long before the big reveal, and these Authors aren't above throwing in the shock factor when it sutes them. Fans who liked Marked will enjoy this title and will eagerly snap up the next in the series.
I have to say there was a point I nearly gave up on this book. Anyone who read my review of Betrayed would know that I didn't exactly enjoy the girl-h..Show More »as-three-boys-on-the-go element, which was a hundred times worse in this book. I could feel no sympathy for the main character and longed to see her get what was coming to her. The fact that she does is what saved the book for me. Also, there were some powerful moments which is why the book gets as high a rating as it does. I can only hope that Zoe will learn from her mistakes and be a better person because of them, and I'll be able to enjoy the later books as much as I did the first in the series.
If I would have to compare the first three book's audio quality and the reader's competence with this one (bear in mind that I haven't finished this b..Show More »ook yet) assuming that the first three is level 5 in both of regard this would get a two. Hence the rating. It might be just the record quality (really bad, noisy and it has no depth) but the reader's voice comes out as really shallow squeaking pubescent. It really only has one voice and in trying to sound differently she fails miserably. Compared to the previous reader's competence this is very mediocre. Which is a shame as the series is interesting and full of novel ideas.
This series of books from the House of night are fantastic!! They are so addictive I listen to them whilst walking the dog I just love them they keep ..Show More »you interested from start to finish absolutely brilliant, I cant wait to download the next book. A definite must for any one who enjoyed the twilight series.
This is in my opinion the most powerful book of the series to date. Unlike the others, this story is told from multiple viewpoints, which was a plus f..Show More »or me as Zoe is a character I don't particularly like, and I got to spend time in the heads of the characters I do. Also unlike the others, this book has a real cliffhanger of an ending which sets up the next book perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the narrator. I've had Cassandra Morris before and never liked her as a reader, but she does an excellent job this time. Yet again though, the reader is different for the next book. That makes the fourth reader this series has had. I can promise readers that Tempted really does live up to its name and you won't be tempted to do anything else while reading it.
I said Hunted was the best book of the series so far. I said Tempted was the most powerful book of the series to date. Burned beats both of them. Look..Show More »ing back, it's hard to believe I was ready to give up on this series. My problems with it still remain. I'm not a Zoe fan and I don't think much of the way she treats guys, but the other characters more than make up for her and I'm hoping she'll actually settle down finally. Since the stories have started being written from various view points, the books have become deeper and more complex and Burned is the most complex of the lot, and I mean that in a good way. As with all the books, Burned is literally impossible to put down and the writing just gets better. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I am in my early 40's and everyone said this series was for teenagers. I don't know what that says about me, but I thoroughly enjoyed the series. So d..Show More »on't be put of.
The characters really come alive throgh the series. I found myself looking forward to read or listen to the next one throughout.
The House of Night series is really really good, I have now read the complete series and wish they would bring out another book. Really worth a read i..Show More »f your into the vampire - immortal type of book, but this wasn't too heavy more aimed at young adults, but I'm far from a young adult and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend
Unfortunately the characters in this series seem to be battling with life threatening circumstances but where everyone else seems to be growing up, th..Show More »e main character Zoey aka 'Z' is very childish and very annoying. I can't really tell you what relevance this instalment has in the House of Night series because there isn't any. This series needs to end and Zoey needs to grow up as her childish terminology is getting really tiresome.
