Joe Simpson, with just his partner, Simon Yates, tackled the unclimbed West Face of the remote 21,000-foot Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in June of 1995. But before they reached the summit, disaster struck. A few days later, Simon staggered into Base Camp, exhausted and frostbitten, to tell their non-climbing companion that Joe was dead. For three days he wrestled with guilt as they prepared to return home. Then a cry in the night took them out with torches, where they found Joe, badly injured.

    Story

An excellent read and amazing journey of strength. The way the author survived, setting small goals, going step by step, despite the disabilities he suffered, is amazing, and a lesson for us all. Truly gives illustration of the saying "A million mile journey begins with the first step". There are many issues missed in the the film, that have been covered by the book. Including insights during the incident, what happened after the characters were reunited, and the participants reflection over what went wrong. Much of the lessons learnt can be applied to our own lives. A great listen!

The Snowball is the most fascinating financial success story of our time. Warren Buffett, the legendary Omaha investor has never written a memoir, but finally has given Alice Schroeder unprecedented access to him and all those closest to his work, opinions, struggles, triumphs, follies and wisdom. The result is this personally revealing and complete biography of 'The Oracle of Omaha', indispensable reading for those who wish to know the man behind the outstanding achievements.

    Story

The book gives much insight into the life as well as some of the aspects of the business life of Warren Buffett. It shows his very flawed life, his tumultuous relationship with his wife. He may be rich, but there are many aspects of his life many would never trade for his wealth. If you liked Steve Jobs Official biography, you will very much like this as well. The story of how he started getting involved in investing, is inspiring, and perhaps much good ideas can be used to develop our children in developing a sensible mindset. A candid review of his life. An entertaining read. You will end up having much sympathy and praise for Buffett after this read, and perhaps a better love of your own life.
