This has to be my favourite book this year. I feel in love with all of the very well written characters. I have listened to it a thousand time and do not tire of it. The friendships and loves that unfold are great. It makes you wish you had relationships like them.

Carrie Grethen, partner in crime to William Temple Gault, has escaped from prison. Before she does so, she sends Kay Scarpetta a message that makes it all too clear she blames her for Gault's death, and has specific, if cryptic, plans for revenge. Wary and quite shaken, Scarpetta still has to get on with an investigation into the death of an unknown female in a fire that has destroyed the isolated farmhouse home of her erstwhile political boss.

I have most of these books on CD and thoroughly enjoy them all. They keep you rivetted from the opening lines. I don't always get the baddy from the beginning, which makes it more interesting for me.

Six months after nearly losing their lives to a serial killer in New York City, FBI Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett are suffering through something almost as frightening: the monotony of desk duty. When they're ordered to take a vacation for the good of everyone's sanity, Ty bites the bullet and takes Zane home with him to West Virginia, hoping the peace and quiet of the mountains will give them the chance to explore the explosive attraction they've so far been unable to reconcile with their professional partnership.

I loved the story. About 2 men with the same outlook on life but completely different. The way they finally come together at the end was very nicely done, not over the top. I am looking forward to listening to more stories by the same author.
