Kate Atkinson at her very best once again. I read her first three books years ago, she is off the wall and different, but oh so talented. It took me a little while to realise the characters from Case Histories (brilliant!!) were revisited. The narrator is superb, please explore this author, you will not be disappointed, please keep writing Kate, I need to know more about Jackson Brodie.

    Thought provoking and disturbing.
Although I thought I knew where this plot was leading, it still had me entwined.
Well worth the download, all characters well represented in the narration.

In 1919, Delano, Georgia, appoints its first chief of police. Honest and hardworking, the new chief is puzzled when young men start to disappear. But his investigation is ended by the fatal blast from a shotgun. Delano's second chief-of-police is no hero, yet he is also disturbed by what he sees in the missing-persons bulletins. In 1969, when Delano's third chief takes over, the unsolved disappearances still haunt the police files.

I was a bit unsure if I would enjoy the political side of this, but it is brilliantly narrated and written. I tried to make it last, but was unable to let go of the ipod as the plot unfolded.
If you do not listen to this you have missed something special.

Toru Okada is going through a difficult time. He is without a job, his cat has disappeared, and his wife is behaving strangely. Into this unbalanced world comes a variety of curious characters, a young girl sunbathing in a nearby garden; sisters who are very peculiar indeed; an old war veteran with a violent, disturbing story. Okada retreats to a deep well in a nearby house. And the story unfolds.
